Repost 📷 by @annemariesvacationslandandsea: Our Repost 📷 by @annemariesvacationslandandsea: Our first stop in Kilkenny was, of course, the Kilkenny Castle. Founded soon after the Norman conquest of Ireland, the Castle has a long history of continuous occupation that extended well into the 20th century. Over the the last 800 years, the Castle has been rebuilt, extended and adapted to suit its occupants changing circumstances and became more of a home than a fortress.

Today, Kilkenny Castle is open to visitors all year round who come to view it's grand rooms and its fifty acres of rolling green space, gardens, and trails. Fun fact: Ellen Stager married James Arthur Butler whose family owned the castle in the early 20th century. Ellen later moved to Cleveland, OH and had the first house built on Euclid Avenue's Millionaire's Row!

Spent some time strolling through lovely Kilkenny, known for its craft and design workshops, the Watergate Theatre, public gardens and museums.

Repost 📷 by @annemariesvacationslandandsea: Tod Repost 📷 by @annemariesvacationslandandsea: Today started with a visit to The House of Waterford Crystal. I have always known that Waterford crystal was special (and expensive) and now I understand why. This esteemed factory, started in 1783, is the world's most luxury crystal manufacturer and is where the most intricate, authentic and masterful crystal pieces come to life. Watching the Master Craftsmen create these exceptional pieces, it is clear how much effort and love is put into every creation.

Although Waterford, Ireland is known for the crystal, it's also a really cool Viking city dating back to 914 AD, making it the country’s oldest city, and the oldest city in Europe with the exceptions of London and Paris.

Repost📷 by @annemariesvacationslandandsea: Day Repost📷 by @annemariesvacationslandandsea: Day 4: Part 2- The Irish Sea

Sailed the Irish Sea from Pembroke, Wales to Waterford, Ireland. The Irish Sea separates the islands of Ireland and Great Britain. It is linked to the Celtic Sea in the south by St George's Channel and to the Inner Seas off the West Coast of Scotland, and famously the Titanic was built on the shores of the Irish Sea.

The ride took 4 hours and our boat, The Oscar Wilde, included a restaurant, pub, and multiple sundecks to enjoy the scenery. Great way to travel from the UK to Ireland!

Repost 📷 by @annemariesvacationslandandsea: Bat Repost 📷 by @annemariesvacationslandandsea: Bath is a city in the county of Somerset, England, known for and named after its Roman-built baths. The city became a World Heritage Site in 1987, and was later added to the transnational World Heritage Site known as the "Great Spa Towns of Europe" in 2021.

The Roman Baths are well-preserved thermal pools inside a temple that was constructed between 60 and 70 AD in the first few decades of Roman Britain and was known as Aquae Sulis and were built in honor of Sulis, the Celtic goddess of healing and sacred waters and Minerva the Roman goddess of wisdom.

The Baths and the museum are definitely worth a visit but the city of Bath is beautiful too. In just 100 years, Bath was transformed from a small medieval city into a fashionable metropolis with almost all Georgian style buildings uniformly constructed from local, gold-beige limestone, which keeps the city looking attractive, even after many decades.

It was a little rainy during our visit but we enjoyed strolling around the town, visiting The Baths, and even drank some of the healing water!

Repost 📷 by @annemariesvacationslandandsea: Alw Repost 📷 by @annemariesvacationslandandsea: Always fun to cross something off the bucket list!

Visited Stonehenge, the prehistoric monument on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England. It consists of an outer ring of vertical sarsen standing stones, each around 13 feet high, seven feet wide, and weighing around 25 tons, topped by connecting horizontal lintel stones.

There have been a lot of theories on how and why Stonehenge was built but it is now believed it was to track the movement of the sun, moon and stars thousands of years ago. Recent findings show that people moved the stones via road to its current site, dug a large hole with a sloping side lined with a row of wooden stakes. The stone was then moved into position and hauled upright using plant fibre ropes and probably a wooden A-frame.

OR.......aliens. Whatever you believe it's amazing and should not be missed while you are in England.

We booked our 8 day tour with @globustravel - this is my second European tour with them & I loved the experience! Transportation as soon as you arrive at the airport is arranged & you are with a tour guide so you don’t have to worry about navigating the country. Each day consisted of an early morning start with breakfast buffet included, guided tours of ancient ruins, museums, free time, & additional excursions. Towards the end of our trip, we did a 3 night cruise & went to Turkey, then island hopped to Mykonos, Patmos, & my bucket list destination: Santorini.
This is a fast paced trip but I highly recommend 🤍 more photos to come of my dream trip made reality. I’m coming back for you Santorini☀️🌊🫶🏼
