Repost 📷 by @alexinwanderland: Should you trave Repost 📷 by @alexinwanderland: Should you travel to Jordan in the low season? ✨ Save this post for my thoughts when you start planning a trip here!

First of all, here’s a little breakdown of the seasons in @visitjordan:
🌸 April—June is spring and is peak travel season, with pleasant temperatures and lush scenery throughout the country, a perfect time for hiking in the expansive desert.
☀️ July—August is the summer and is a high season due to summer holidays, but can be pretty hot for some temperature sensitive travelers.
🍂 September—October is the fall and is still high season, and an especially perfect time to visit the Red Sea when water temperatures are the highest of the year.
🌧 November - March is the winter and it’s low season! You might be shocked by how cold a Middle Eastern winter can be, especially in the high city of Amman, however, the trade off is low crowds and prices.

I traveled to Jordan with @globustravel at the end of Feb for one of their #JordanEscape Tours, which are up to 30% off and feature no single supplement — something they are able to negotiate with local vendors due to their high volume throughout the rest of the year!

If you’ve been following me for a minute you probably know I’m a summer gal — I pretty much like it hot, all the time! So when I was packing and seeing temps in the 40s in some cities, honestly I was pretty freaked out!

The truth is I did struggle in Amman, a mountainous city where I found the cold pretty biting, but was relieved when we arrived in Wadi Rum and Petra and The Dead Sea and found much more mild temps. I chose not to extend my trip to go to Aqaba after talking to local divers who told me it wasn’t the best time for conditions or visibility. I’ll come back for that!

Keeping in mind that I’m essentially a reptile who recharges by laying on a hot rock in the sun, winter was tough for me — but I still fell hard for Jordan and can’t wait to go back.

For those stretching a travel budget, those who cringe at crowds and those who prefer cooler temperatures (I have heard you exist…?) winter may be the perfect time for y’all!

Petra. This is the jewel in the crown, the sandwich in the picnic, the meat in the sandwich (sorry veggies.) Even before you know what it is, I'll bet you you've seen this image of Petra, the face of the Treasury peering between the raspberry ripple rocky gorge.

Petra is simply outstanding. No matter how many times you visit, you'll always find something new. It's like London, only prettier. If a man is tired of London, he is tired of life. If a woman is tired of Petra, she needs to have a word with herself. Basically.

I’ve been wanting to come to a Jordan for ages — in fact, I had a trip planned in April of 2020 — and I’ve spent so much time in neighboring countries it was getting ridiculous I was still lacking this particular passport stamp.

So, when @visitjordan and @globustravel invited me to experience an off-season #JordanEscape, I simply couldn’t say no.

I spent a few days in Amman solo before joining the tour through Wadi Rum, Petra, and The Dead Sea. I still have so much more — like Aqaba! — to visit in the future. Now I’m hooked!

You guys loved following along with this trip on my stories and had so many great recommendations from those who have been and questions and requests from those who haven’t yet! Don’t be shy about leaving more in the comments — I’ve got plenty of posts coming up this week from my 10 day trip! (And actually I’m back for a few days in April, too!)

For now, here’s a lil peek at what’s to come… ✈️
