Into the Great Wide Open

Steve Born, Chief Marketing Office, the Globus family of brands

After months of enduring closed doors and closed borders, Globus invited fellow wayfarers and wanderers to open their hearts, their schedules and their suitcases to adventure in the great wide open in early November (2020).

On this 7-day America’s Canyonlands Escape, 26 guests from Florida to California (and 10 states in-between) answered the call of the wild to take-in some of the West’s most iconic national parks on a guided tour of Nevada, Utah and Arizona; to witness spectacular scenery and to hear legendary stories of Native Americas, early explorers, ranchers, cowboys and frontiersman.

This getaway marked the first tour in the United States since the pandemic began. An Escape that represented our journey back to travel and so much more … And I was there to witness it all – as both chief marketing officer and as a guest.

Trust in Touring:

The week-long vacation began in Las Vegas, and right away, I observed Globus’ new health and safety protocols at work including a touch-free hotel check-in. During the “Welcome Reception,” our Tour Director, Steve Osten, also conducted temperature checks while all guests completed health waivers. And, of course, we practiced mask-wearing and social distancing. Steve also reinforced new safety protocols and expectations for the group, including the need to partake in hand sanitation before and after every stop, social distancing on the motorcoach, organized seat rotation, enhanced cleaning standards (including luggage sanitation) and touch-free meals.

Throughout the reception, I couldn’t help but notice a casual camaraderie and recognition that our small group was entering a travel bubble together and we – all of us – were going to do our upmost to be safe and respectful and delight in our journey together. A “togetherness” that comes when you explore the world – near and far – with like-minded travelers.

Spectacular Scenery:

There’s no question that higher elevations elevate the soul. This journey through stunning, awe-inspiring landscapes rerouted my spirits and words simply cannot describe the experience. Photography helps to place an exclamation point on this truly spectacular, picture-perfect getaway featuring:

Zion National Park
Zion National Park and its gauntlet of slot canyons.

Bryce Canyon
The hoodoos and goblins of Bryce Canyon.

Arches National Park
The sandstone arches of Arches National Park.

Monument Valley
The monumental Monument Valley.

Grand Canyon
And of course, the grand finale at the Grand Canyon!

Far from Ordinary, Close to Home:

This Escape to America’s Canyonlands proves that it isn’t necessary to cross borders or oceans for adventure. From our national parks to cool, emerging cities and small, historic towns, there’s so much to see – and experience – closer to home. We can discover (or rediscover) the wonder of our own, wonderful country!

May this journey serve as your inspiration to open your calendar and map-out an extraordinary vacation in the New Year. To plan for a tomorrow that’s better than yesterday – risk-free, hassle-free and stress-free. Happy planning!

Sincerely,

Steve Born
